Did you know? Elgar was actually a violin virtuoso! Elgar left behind a wide variety of violin pieces, from the "Violin Sonata," which was used to great effect in certain animated cartoons, to the "Violin Concerto," a large work with a heartbreaking melody, and from large works to small salon-style pieces. From his early years as a self-taught composer and violin teacher, the instrument was his friend and comrade-in-arms.
