Both of the two piano quartets on this album are arrangements from the composer's own quintet for piano and wind instruments. The Mozart piece is a rare world premiere recording. Beethoven's work is an arrangement from a quintet for piano and winds conceived the year after Mozart's death and later refined into a piano quartet, which is also a world premiere recording on period instruments. In this recording, Miucci improvises the cadenzas in both works, as was customary at the time, and the listener can enjoy the development of the elegant melodies. Naxos Japan
