Description:
The glamour and danger of contemporary fashion, depicted with a truly honed sensitivity. This is a new album by Tomoko Mukaiyama, a renowned pianist based in Amsterdam who specializes in contemporary music and creates her own unique world that synthesizes all kinds of art forms, including architecture and fine arts. La Mode" was premiered in 2016 at the inaugural performance of the National Opera House in Taichung, Taiwan, and was performed in Japan the same year, and was picked up again in the Netherlands and distributed live in June 2020 during the Corona Disaster. Composed by Yannis Kyriakides, born in Cyprus in 1969, "La Mode" uses a set designed by architect Toyo Ito for the stage, contemporary ballet dancers, and bold use of electronics (though piano is the only instrument). The only instrument used was the piano, but electronics were also boldly used to create an impressive installation work that created a stimulating and suggestive world that was not confined to a single frame. The theme of the work is "fashion," which at first glance seems to be a glamorous world, but at the same time, the work is clad in something more intense than a simple idea.Fashion is the most fervent religion of our time and the most fragile and dangerous means of communication. The music is a large work in five movements that takes an hour to complete. The music is an hour-long work in five movements. The design supervised by Mukai Yamamoto, who also took great care not to detract from the work's power, is also full of attention to detail. The packaging is very beautiful, powerful, and attractive.
