🛠️ Setup Guide (Quick Start)

1. Choose your variant — "Motor" if you have your own propeller, or "Motor + Propeller" for the matched 140mm 3-blade prop. Please confirm that the inner diameter of your thruster tube matches the outer diameter of the motor.
2. Mount the motor — secure the 6384 into your motor mount, thruster housing, or mast pod. The long threaded shaft allows direct propeller attachment. Route the 3×12AWG phase leads away from the propeller arc and any moving parts.
   
3. Route the phase wires — feed the 1300mm 12AWG wires through your mast or tube. The 4mm gold connector connect directly to most VESC ESC phase outputs. Ensure no sharp bends in the wire routing.
4. Connect to ESC — plug the 3 phase wires (A-B-C) into your ESC. Motor direction can be reversed by swapping any two phase wires, or via VESC Tool software if using a VESC-based ESC.
5. Run motor detection — in VESC Tool, run the FOC motor detection wizard. At the same time, check and confirm that the test parameters are valid and correct. This ensures optimal FOC performance.
6. Set current limits — configure motor max current to 88A and battery current to match your pack's continuous discharge rating. After actual testing, adjust the current limiting value as needed, while ensuring it does not exceed the motor's rated current of 59A.Set motor temperature protection if using a temp sensor.
7. Water test — submerge the motor and run at 10–20% throttle first. Check for unusual vibration (propeller balance) and verify the ceramic bearings run smoothly before full-power runs.

Q1: What is the difference between the "Motor" and "Motor + Propeller" variants?
The "Motor" variant includes only the 6384 motor with pre-installed phase wires. The "Motor + Propeller" variant adds a matched 140×120mm 2-blade propeller designed for the Φ10mm long-thread shaft. If you already have a compatible propeller or are using a custom prop, choose the Motor-only variant.

Q2: What ESC is recommended for this motor?
The Firduo Manatee 100 Pro (75V 100A VESC-based ESC) is the recommended pairing. It supports FOC mode, handles up to 100A continuous (150A peak), and covers the full 6S–16S voltage range of this motor. For higher-power builds at 16S, ensure your ESC is rated for the voltage.

Q3: Is IP58 sufficient for eFoil / continuous underwater use?
Yes. IP58 means the motor is rated for continuous submersion beyond 1 meter depth — suitable for eFoil, underwater thrusters, and ROV applications. The ceramic bearings are specifically chosen for corrosion resistance in both fresh and salt water. Rinse with fresh water after salt water use to extend bearing life.

Q4: What battery voltage gives the best performance?
For most eFoil and thruster builds, 12S–14S (44–52V) is the optimal range — this puts the motor in its peak efficiency band (see characteristic curves above). At 16S (60V) you get maximum power but higher heat; at 6S–8S the motor is underpowered for eFoil use. The characteristic curves at 36V and 48V are shown in the spec section above.

Yes. Two 6384 motors can be run from separate ESCs connected via CAN bus (if using VESC-based ESCs) for synchronized dual-motor control.
