This Great Blue Heron skull pendant measures 1-1/8" in total length. It is cast in jewellers bronze and given a hand burnished finish. It is completely 3D and proportionately perfect, as the pictures reveal. The chain that passes right through the natural optic hole within the eye sockets suspending the skull perfectly.

 Herons and egrets were hunted during the 19th century for their plumes. Their beautiful feathers were used to decorate hats made for women. This led to the depletion of many heron species. As such, heron hunting was outlawed in the early 20th century.
