Mothers^® Professional Rubbing Compound quickly removes 1,500 grade and finer sand scratches from all types of refinish and factory applied automotive paints. May also be used to remove light oxidation, car wash scratches and other defects from paints that do not require sanding.

To tackle paint restoration like an automotive professional, you’ll need a buffing compound followed by a polishing compound as part of your maintenance regime. For any common contaminants like oxidation, water spots, scratches, or bird droppings, our professional rubbing compound will let you remove them quickly and easily so they don’t damage the paint. Its body shop proven and works with any buffer pad.

To use, apply a 5-inch ribbon of the buffer compound to the pad. Then set the speed of your buffer to medium or medium-high. Start slowly, resting the pad on the surface of the vehicle without adding any pressure. You should only be using the weight of the machine. Work in small sections at a time, overlapping your buffing path as you go to ensure you cover the paint thoroughly. Apply more of the compound as needed to keep the surface wet at all times. When you’re done buffing, use a clean damp towel to wipe it clean. Inspect the results to ensure there are no defects. If there are, continue with the buffer until they are removed.
