The tea dried through roasting is commonly referred to as "mao cha" (rough tea). After meticulous selection and additional roasting, the finished tea, known as "jing zhi cha" (refined tea), is ready for circulation and consumption.

High-quality refined Dancong teas often undergo charcoal roasting (usually with secondary and tertiary roasting) to enhance the flavor and improve storage durability. An example is Zong Xian Dancong, which undergoes a triple-charcoal roasting process.
