Automatic alternator detection

When both the alternator and auxiliary battery are properly connected, the DM1230 automatically detects whether the engine is running—either through the D+ signal or by sensing alternator output voltage. Based on this, it intelligently decides whether to begin charging the auxiliary battery and power the DC load from the alternator, or to power the DC load from the auxiliary battery.

Efficient and adaptive charging

The DM1230 DC-DC charger optimizes battery charging using the TBB Premium II algorithm. This microprocessor-controlled system adjusts the absorption charging timer based on battery discharge state, ensuring efficient and complete charging. The float charging feature also maintains the battery's health over extended periods of connection.

Temperature compensation for optimal charging

Battery temperature significantly impacts charging performance. The included Battery Temperature Sensor (BTS) measures real-time temperature and adjusts the charging voltage accordingly. The default compensation rate is –3mV/°C/cell, ensuring batteries are charged under optimal conditions. If the BTS is not connected, the charger defaults to 25°C settings.

Smart power management

The DM1230 actively monitors its internal temperature and dynamically adjusts output power to prevent overheating. As the temperature rises, the charger will de-rate its output power to maintain safe operating conditions, ensuring long-term reliability and performance.
